    Vintage Wood Shrine

Solid timber shrine, nicho or display box, beautifully finished on three sides with carved pillars, solid wood back, stepped up footing and peaked roof with finial.

Most likely teak. Vintage in age, dating from the 1950-60s, southern India.

This large and very graciously proportioned shrine can take a tall statue with good height because theuseable space extends right up into the vaulted roof and the sides are open. This means that it is also suitable for use as a general purpose shrine, for offerings and for the burning of incense.

The plain and simple decoration of this shrine also means that it will not overshadow objects displayed inside. It is also suitable for venerable objects from different cultures because it does not immediately identify (for example) as Hindu or Buddhist.

And if you would prefer not to use our niche as a shrine, it simply makes a beautiful display for any special object or objects, even a pot plant.

    Measurements:

Outside dimensions - height 54 cm to top of finial, depth 21 cm, width 23 cm

    Inside dimensions - height 41 cm, 17 x 17 cm
