This is a piece of genuine Naga antique jewellery, collected by my father Bernie Heaphy decades ago from within Nepal.
It is a simple spiral of hand beaten bronze with a very high copper content. It was most likely turned on a wooden form and was made for a single individual, most likely a high ranking male of warrior status. It was designed to be pushed over the elbow and worn on the upper arm. We date it to at least the early 20th century, but it more likely older, and shows wear consistent with the stated age. A very collectable and rare piece of Naga ornamentation.
Genuine antique Naga jewellery is almost impossible to find for sale anymore, most pieces today reside in private collections or in museums.
