An abstract and beautiful horse figure sculpted in terracotta, from the tribal Tharu people of the remote Tarai region of southern Nepal. Early to mid 20th century in age, showing appropriate weathering. Traditionally, these figures are made, then left in secluded forest groves as sacrifices to appease spirits and local deities. Every horse is slightly different as they are hand sculpted, please expect variation when ordering.
