Tobacco Holder from Turkmenistan

A fine example of men's "jewellery" from the Tekke people of Turkmanistan.  Made from a whole miniature gourd grown expressly for the purpose, polished, chased with silver and finished with a carnelian stone set into the top of the cap.  Such items were used to hold powered tobacco and formed part of a wealthy man's dress ensemble.  Approximately 80 years old.
