  • Uzbek Yuruk Yastik Lakai Patchwork Quilt

Uzbeki/Afghani traditional korak (patchwork) quilt or cloth. Made up of a geometric patchwork of handsewn cotton, silk, velvet and embroidered fabric squares, framed with hand embroidery.

Traditionally used by nomadic Uzbek people as coverlets or wall hangings in their tents. Protects against the evil eye.

This is a fine and very large example of this style of workmanship, displaying a large number of cloth patterns and some very detailed fine embroidery. Early 20th century. Some tears and fading commensurate with use and age.

    Measurements: 200 x 173 cm
