  • Rajasthani Heavy Silver Thread Embroidered Textile

Traditional Sind Desert tribal textile, made up of many panels of embroidery with heavy silver thread and small mirrors to produce a stunningly cohesive effect that is traditionally called zari work or zari zadozi embroidery. The silver thread is real and is made up of a thread drawn from a silver alloy which has tarnished with age. The quality of the embroidery is excellent.

Typically Persian style work, imported into India in the 1700's by the Muslims.

Full lined at the back with red cotton and bordered with black cotton.

From northwest India, purchased by my father on one of his buying trips in the 1970's. Approximately 50-60 years old.

    Measurements: 173 cm x 134 cm
