    These metal trunk cases are a piece of real history from India. Used by surveyors during the times of the Raj and afterwards when roads and railways were being built all over India. These delightful metal trunks were used to protect the surveyors' instruments and other equipment. This charming old piece of Indian history would make a lovely addition to your home or your patio area. 19th century, India.

    This particular example is a beautiful object in its own right. Taller than most of these sorts of suitcases, it would make a lovely coffee table. Inside is the original makers label, showing the item's use on India's railway system.
