An antique silver amulet depicting the feet of the goddess Lakshmi. High grade silver, mid to late 19th century. India.
This is an extremely old pendant, as is evidenced by the wear on each of the bails. However all are sturdy and will last another hundred years or so.
In Hindu tradition Lakshmi's feet or even her footprints are often depicted symbolically (Lakshmi charan paduka) and are revered as asymbol of prosperity and good fortune.Amulets such as this one are believed to attract Lakshmi's blessings and bring abundance, wealth and good luck to the home or business.
