Berber (Amazigh) traditional handmade open hoop earrings decorated with an ornamented lower cresent edged with trefoil projections. High grade silver. From Tunisia. Early 20th century or earlier.
There are small differences between the two earrings, that, along with softened detail caused by wear and an irregular surface, give this pair of tribal earrings considerable character.
Note that the round ear wire is approximately 2 mm thick and almost 4 mm at the insertion end, which means it cannot be easily worn in a standard piercing.
