Antique bronze Naga bangle. Probably Konyak. Nagaland, India. Early 20th century or earlier. A faint decorative pattern is still discernible on some sections of the inner band, although most has worn smooth.
This style of bracelet is worn in other parts of India, however bronze versions tend to be restricted to Nagaland and surrounding regions.
This is a hinged piece, howeverboth hinges have been sealed so that the bangle now cannot be opened. It must therefore be slipped over the hand.
Measurements: Outside diameter 8 cm, inside diameter 5.5 cm. Insidecircumference approximately 16 cm. Outer circumference 27 cm.
