  • Antique Shiva Crescent Moon Amulet

This antique amulet represents Shiva through its depiction of the upturned crescent moon. It is in the style of Kundan jewellery, typically consisting of glass over a coating of gold or copper. 19th century in age or older, the bail at the base of the pendant has worn through but has been reshaped and can easily support the weight of its silver dangles. High grade silver, from northern India. This is a beautiful, old amulet with a great deal of history.

Lord Shiva's association with the crescent moon goes back to the Puranas. While it represents the cyclical nature of the universe, it is believed that, because Shiva stands outside of time, he is also the master of time.

Measurements: height 3.2 cm including dangles, height of pendant alone 1.4 cm, width 1.5 cm
