Heart shaped box amulet in two parts, designed to join when a chain or cord is passed through the top loops. Late 19th century, Turkmenistan. It features a central panel of hammered decorative work featuring a pattern of leaves, fruit and flowers. The dangles are original to the amulet and feature matching handmade fused chain. The back is plain. An original tribal piece collected in Afghanistan by my father in the 1980’s.
