We have turned a beautiful pair of matching antique Afghani beads into a very elegant pair of earrings. The patina and wear of the silver are in keeping with a known age of mid to late 19th century, and the shape and general decoration of the beads indicate that they represent the closed bud of the opium poppy. Collected by Kashgar founder Bernard Heaphy in Afghanistan in the 1980's.
The beads and the majority of their dangles are original and are high grade silver. To turn these beads into earrings, we have added both new and vintage sterling silver components and hooks.
