The silver that makes up these earrings are high grade silver, antique beads sourced many decades ago by collector Bernie Heaphy in Afghanistan. They closely resemble the Gada that is beloved in Hinduism. The Gada, favoured emblem of Hanuman, is said to balance one's physical and spiritual energies, but is also one of the attributes of Viṣṇu, symbolising the god's universal power. It is sometimes represented in personified form as an āyudhapuruṣa, and worshipped independently for its protective qualities in the form of the goddess Kaumodakī.
These tribal earrings feature 925 sterling silver hooks and components, and are light and easy to wear. They will appeal to anyone with a taste for the beautiful and unusual. The matching pair of beads that make up these earrings are collectable in their own right and can be dismantled by the collector for use in other projects.
