Hand carved rock crystal dorje or vajra pendants. Top mounted sterling silver bail. From Nepal.
The dorje, also called the vajra, is an important Buddhist symbol representing the diamond thunderbolt which cuts but cannot be cut, as well as the purifying lotus bud. It is the symbol of Avalokiteshvara, the Buddha of compassion. The dorje represents the destruction of ignorance, which in turn leads to compassion and understanding, and is considered to be a powerful protective symbol in its own right.
Cloudy rock crystal is sourced from the Himalayas and is considered to be the most desirable of all the world's quartz deposits.
