Shungite Oval or Teardrop Pendant

Carved from a single piece of shungite (jet) and finished with a simple sterling silver bail. This oval or teardrop shungite pendant is a very wearable piece of jewellery for men or women.

These are carved from thick, substantial pieces of shungite, rather than thin plates, with each weighing around 4.6 - 5.3 g.

Shungite is a form of jet, composed of over 98% pure carbon and created over 2 billion years ago. It naturally contains fullerenes (buckyballs), which are considered powerful antioxidant and antibacterial agents. Shungite originate from Shunga, a village in Karelia, Russia.

Shungite has been used in medical treatment since the early 18th century.
